The summer is full of fun things to do like swimming, hiking, boating, warm weather sports and of course...summer shopping! But once we hit late July and August, those lazy days of summer become really lazy! This is the perfect time to zero in on your natural talent and pick up a new hobby that can carry you right through those shut-in winter weekends. Here are some new hobbies you can try picking up:

Jewelry Making
Cheap and fun, simply go to a nearby craft or beads store and choose some beads that you like, some stores also offer rhinestones, jewels, glass and fun different shapes. You can also buy some wire or chain and create your own jewelry! Then, when your friends compliment your fab new necklace and ask who the designer is, you can say "ME!"

Photography
Photography is a great hobby to pick up because great photography is a matter of taste. Grab a disposable or your own digital camera and just walk around the neighborhood photographing things that you find interesting and beautiful. Making a scrap book of your photographs can be really fun and fulfilling and you'll always be the go to girl who takes the best pictures at parties! Don't forget to upload them to you Your Space page for your friends to see and comment on!

Dancing
Yes, it's super fun to shake it up at a party or a school dance but if your love of dance follows you off the dance floor you might want to consider taking classes! Most dance schools and even gym's offer classes in ballet, hip hop and latin and you may find a future profession! If not, you'll definitely have fun!

Writing
Writing can be good on many levels and anyone can do it. You can write about your day, you can write about your problems, you can write about your dreams and no one ever has to see it! You can write poetry or stories and if you really love them and are proud of them, be ambitious and ask your parents to help you get them published! You could be the next great writer.

Cooking
Creating anything can be really fulfilling and fun but no more so than something yummy that you can eat afterwards. Try looking through some recipe books or websites online such as www.foodnetwork.com and choose some things that sound really good to you that aren't too difficult to execute. Make sure to have a parent in the kitchen with you to help out (like an assistant!) and to be sure you're safe and you could be the next top chef!

Learn A New Sport
If you're not a sporty gal you might be rolling your eyes at this one but hear us out! There are sports that wont have you rolling in the mud or sliding in the dirt. Try fun games like tennis or badminton, swimming, which is not only fun but great exercise, you can even pick up yoga which not only gets your body into shape but your mind as well which is perfect for the new school year.
