Picking out jeans can be such a hassle! You like them, but they just don’t fit right or you don’t know what style you want. Well, we are here to help! We’re going to show you the many different styles and shapes you have to choose from and which jeans make you feel good. Let’s find out!
Bell Bottoms- This is a classic style that gets wise towards the bottom. Bell bottoms originated in the seventies and have not left since. This is a staple trend jean, something that might fade in and out of trends, but are always wise to keep in your wardrobe. The "bell" on the bottom can be bought from a slight flare to a very wide flare. These jeans are good for all body types, but try out different flare widths so you don't make your body look disproportioned.
Skinny Jeans- This jean is a straight leg that is tight to the body. There is no space between you and the jean; it stays against the body from the waist to the ankle. The skinny first came around in the eighties and has recently made a huge comeback but is slowly fazing out again. This looks great on petite and tall figures as well. It will elongate the legs but be careful with the fit; you don’t want the jeans to bunch too much on the bottom. They also tend to fit small and will most likely shrink a little after wash so the skinny leg jean is best bought a couple sizes larger than you usually wear. They shouldn’t be so tight that you struggle to walk in them, so find a good middle ground. If worn correctly, these can look great with flip flops or heels. Plus, they come in fun colors!
Skinny Cropped- These are the same fit as your regular skinny jeans, but they come to about the ankle. They can be rolled up to wear as capri’s or you can leave them as pants. These will look great with some ballerina flats or even some flip flops. You can also transition them into fall and winter and tuck them into boots!
Boot Cut- The boot cut looks great on every shape and size. This jean is a straight leg, but does not form to the body. It stays the same width from thigh to ankle. This will elongate a petite figure, but also look great on curvy as well. The boot cut came from cowboys. They needed to be able to fit their jeans over their cowboy boots comfortable, ergo the "boot cut." This is a great shape to have in your wardrobe, usually the most comfortable and it can be worn to school casually, or dressed up!
Trousers- The trouser jean is great to wear when you are dressing up. It is called the trouser because it resembles a nice pair of pants, like khakis or classic black pants. But it is in denim instead, this looks great on all body types, especially if you have an athletic build. They usually have pockets like trousers as well, set a bit higher in the front and none in the back. Get them in a dark wash; you can pair them with anything!
High Waist- High waist jeans are a current trend that we love! They came around in the late seventies and we are seeing them again. In the seventies they wore high waist bell bottoms. We, on the other hand, wear high waist trousers. This jean will come up to your real waist, which is right above your bellybutton, or the top of your hip. It is often designed in the trouser style to make them look dressy. This will elongate your legs, but be careful, if you already have long legs with a short torso, this will make you look like you have spider legs. So be sure to try on many different kinds, that way you can get an idea on which fits you the best.
With so many different styles of jeans to choose from any girl of any size can find a great fit. Pay attention to the pocket details on the jeans. If you’re not so curvy, get some jeans with embellishments on the pockets. For a curvy figure get jeans with basic pockets, which sit right in the middle, not to high and not to low. Also pay attention to the wash of the jean too. Dark denim will always be in style and can be slimming. But take advantage of the trends and get some colored jeans or the different fades available and enjoy!
